IEEE International Conference on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency
2-6 May 2020 // Virtual Conference

About

Our hearts and thoughts remain with those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide. In the past months, the TPC of IEEE ICBC 2020 compiled a remarkable technical program from more than 250 competitive submissions of full/short papers, posters, tutorial and demos. The Canadian Blockchain Olympiad also committed to take place during IEEE ICBC 2020. However, following closely updates in domestic and international health/travel advisory guidelines, and because the health and safety of our members and participants is our first priority, the Organizing and Steering committee of IEEE ICBC 2020 decided to present this stellar technical body of work through a decentralized virtual conference on May 2-6, 2020 (additional day May 2, 2020 will exhibit all poster and demo presentations). Further, the IEEE ICBC 2020 Organizing Committee is working with the ComSoc Leadership on adjusting the registration fees accordingly. Once done, we will provide a separate announcement on the conference web site.

In view of the global events impacting all, this upcoming ICBC 2020 will become an even more exciting and landmark-statement conference. As we were still receiving demo submissions in the past few days, and in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, one should be readily amazed by the dynamism, dedication and vision of the global blockchain community. We look forward to this continued support by all participants so to ensure the success of the decentralized ICBC 2020.

Precise guidelines for all authors (papers, posters, tutorials, demos) are posted below. All authors need to adhere to the guidelines so their work is presented at IEEE ICBC 2020 so as to be included in the IEEE proceedings that will follow. The conference website will be updated progressively to reflect the above changes. Please check for updates to assist your virtual participation, and also our links to provincial/global guidelines/resources as posted in the Travel Safety tab. Respecting all health/travel advisory updates, in mid-April 2020 IEEE ICBC may decide to run a small-scale physical event at the University of Toronto on May 3-6 for those who can travel to complement the experience of the virtual conference. Again, IEEE ICBC 2020 will be a virtual conference. Even if this physical event takes place, all authors need to a) submit their video presentations by April 13, 2020 (to allow testing), and b) make themselves available remotely to present their work for the virtual conference as noted below. Please check the website for updates.

A Message From IEEE ComSoc on COVID-19

As you may be aware, the World Health Organization officially declared the novel coronavirus COVID-19 a pandemic. This global health crisis is a unique challenge that has impacted many members of the IEEE family. We would like to express our concern and support for all the members of the IEEE community, our professional team, our families and all others affected by this outbreak.

Governments around the world are now issuing restrictions on travel, gatherings, and meetings in an effort to limit and slow the spread of the virus. The health and safety of the IEEE community is our first priority and IEEE is supporting these efforts.

Following the advice and guidelines from healthcare officials and local authorities, the IEEE International Conference on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency will now be held virtually on Saturday May 2.

Accepted papers for the IEEE ICBC will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library after they are presented at the virtual conference. Information and instructions on how to prepare for a virtual presentation will be sent separately.

Registration fees for the IEEE ICBC will be adjusted. Authors and non-authors who have registered at the original fees will be refunded the price difference. We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of our technical community for your understanding and community engagement. Although the IEEE ICBC cannot be held physically, the integrity and quality of the research and content will remain and now be experienced in the virtual environment. Thank you for your support of our shared mission to
advance technology for humanity.
